Children’s Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service

Children’s Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service comic animation - for decorative purposesThe newly formed Children’s Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service is located in Leeds and covers the whole of the West Yorkshire region. The service aims to support children, young people and their families who are struggling to achieve a healthy weight.

Our team offer a non-judgemental and stigma-free approach. We want to get to know the children and young people we support and discover what matters most to them, in all aspects of their life.

We work with children and young people and their families to make what is called a ‘personalised plan’, which is a plan that is unique to each person.

We are a team of friendly and approachable doctors, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, a youth worker and a social worker. We are here to support our children and young people every step of the way so that they can achieve their goals and live their best, healthiest life.

Our clinics might be a little different from others; they are held outside of the hospital, in a health centre in the community and offer a fun activity filled, education session. Our clinics offer children and young people the chance to meet the team get to know each other in a relax and fun way.

The Complications of Excess Weight service is a specialised service for children and young people who are struggling to achieve a healthy weight.

For more details about who can be referred into this service please email leedsth-tr.paediatricweightmanagement@nhs.net
