West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership is an ‘Integrated Care System’. We work in partnership with NHS organisations, councils, Healthwatch, hospices, charities and the community voluntary and social enterprise sector to improve the health and wellbeing of local people living in our five local places:
- Bradford District and Craven
- Calderdale
- Kirklees
- Leeds
- Wakefield District
We need a new plan for Equality Diversity and Inclusion in West Yorkshire. We hope this will help make sure everyone who lives and works here can access healthcare in the way that works best for them and can live a healthy life. To do this, it is important that we work together across the health and care partnership in West Yorkshire.
How we are developing our new Equality Diversity Inclusion Strategy
West Yorkshire ICB, as part of its continued commitment to the Equality Diversity and Inclusion agenda, is currently in the process of developing a new Equality Diversity Inclusion Strategy for West Yorkshire.
Our new strategy is being developed with the involvement of the local voluntary sector, staff and public sector partners and will set out new equality priorities.
We do not know what will be in the EDI Strategy yet. We are collecting people’s ideas through different ways and encourage you to get involved.
- We held a Stakeholder Event on 9th July 2024 in Bradford
- We have an online survey that anyone can complete, as an individual or as a group
- Healthwatch West Yorkshire are running some focus groups through July 2024
- We will use are existing links to ask for ideas
We will go through all the responses, collect them into main themes and check we have got them right.
This will help us agree our priorities going forward.
We want to hear your views on Equality Diversity and Inclusion in West Yorkshire
We want to know what should be in the new Equality Diversity and Inclusion strategy.
We especially want to hear from people who often don’t get heard. We also would like involvement from those working in charity and community organisations that work with diverse voices.
This work has been commissioned by the West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership.
Our online surveys are now live. Feel free to complete them on behalf of others too.

What we hope the Equality Diversity and Inclusion Strategy will do for West Yorkshire
We want this Equality Diversity and Inclusion strategy to make a difference everyone when they use health and care services and the staff who work in these services.
We want to have a clear strategy and plan in place to work towards:
- Equity, fairness and social justice;
- all communities can access the healthcare services they need;
- valuing our diverse workforce;
- creating inclusion and a sense of belonging for all
We want this Equality Diversity and Inclusion strategy to remove the barriers that exist and transform the lives of patients, staff and healthcare leaders.
