Local government report highlights importance of active lifestyles

A joint report from the Local Government Information Unit and the Ramblers highlighted the importance of town planning in encouraging walking. It surveyed 118 officers from local authorities across England and found that 89 per cent made walking access a key consideration for their council, with 94 per cent having a local plan to encourage walking and active travel.
