Healthy Working Life supports Calderdale communities

Healthy Working Life - a joint programme of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board - is funding local projects across the region to help people live healthier working lives.

Over 32% of Calderdale residents aged 16 to 64 are unable to work due to long-term health conditions, a rate higher than both West Yorkshire and England. Other barriers, such as caring responsibilities and lack of skills, also hold people back.

Funding has been awarded to 10 community organisations in Calderdale to deliver initiatives that support people to access work or return to employment. This includes CV writing, mentoring and health and wellbeing support. The funded organisations are:

• Invictus Wellbeing
• C&K Careers
• Proper Job Theatre Company
• Happy Days Ministries UK
• Newground Together
• Verd de gris Arts
• St.George’s Community Trust
• Colt Enterprise (Calderdale)
• St. Augustine’s

The Community Foundation for Calderdale managed the grant process and work will now begin to set up schemes and identify people most in need of support.
