ICB Executive Director of Nursing

Dear all,

I am writing to confirm that following a competitive recruitment process, Julie Clennell has been appointed as the substantive Executive Director of Nursing at NHS West Yorkshire ICB.

Julie has been working with us as Interim Executive Director of Nursing alongside her role as Regional Director of Nursing & Clinical Quality Director in the NHS England (North East and Yorkshire) regional team since Beverley Geary joined Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

We will continue to benefit from Julie’s executive level leadership and support as we implement our new operating model as a strategic commissioning organisation. Julie has provided strong executive leadership during a significant period of change for the organisation, working closely with colleagues across the ICB and wider system and providing valued support to teams during a challenging time.

Julie will continue to work with you all as partners and stakeholders, as we collectively start to work and think differently in the future.

Julie will formally leave her position with NHS England on 30 September 2026 and, until then, will continue to undertake both roles.

I would like to congratulate Julie on her appointment and thank her for the leadership she has provided over recent months. I look forward to continuing to work with her in her substantive role.
