Living with obesity in West Yorkshire

Posted on: 19 May 2023

Over 60 health and care colleagues from across West Yorkshire joined a ‘living with obesity’ event in Leeds earlier in May 2023. Sarah Le Brocq, Founder and Director of All About Obesity and a leading obesity advocate in the UK presented about the importance of co-production and making sure people are at the heart of this work.

Living with obesity attendees sat at tables.jpgThere was an update from Lindsay Greenhalgh, our Head of Medicines Optimisation, about the recent changes in medicinal management. Dr Caroline Steele from West Yorkshire’s Complications of Excess Weight Clinic talked about work to support children and families struggling with weight. We also heard from place leads on initiatives being carried out across the region.

Attendees took part in workshops looking at what our vision and principles should be and the long term, transformational change needed to best support those living with obesity.

The event was well received with excellent feedback. It is the first of three events we will be holding over the coming months which will inform our work in this area. If you are interested in attended future events, please contact caroline.robinson13@nhs.net.
