Posted on: 8 July 2026

six-video series demonstrates the wide range of support available through Healthy Working Life and the positive impact it is having on people, communities and workplaces across Kirklees.

Video 1: Supporting young people into sustainable work

The first video highlights two C+K Careers’ projects, which support young people aged 16 to 25 facing health or mental health challenges. Whether they are looking for work, preparing to start a job or already employed, participants receive personalised support to build confidence, overcome barriers and develop skills for long-term employment. Young people featured in the film explain how the projects have helped them access new opportunities and move closer to their career goals.

 Video 2: Fitness for Work

Kirklees Active Leisure’s Fitness for Work programme is helping people improve their physical and mental wellbeing through a structured 12-week exercise and social activity programme. Designed for people whose health is affecting their ability to work, the initiative helps participants build confidence, develop healthier habits and feel more positive about returning to or staying in employment. In the video, participants praise the support they receive from both staff and fellow members.

Video 3: Wellness to Work

Locala’s Wellness to Work programme offers personalised support for people who have a health issue that affects their ability to start, stay in or return to work. Employment navigators and health professionals work alongside participants to create realistic action plans that address both health and employment goals. The video features inspiring stories from people who have improved their wellbeing, rebuilt their confidence and taken important steps towards sustainable work with the help of dedicated support.

 Video 4: The LAB Project

The fourth video explores the LAB Project from Proper Job Theatre Company, which uses creativity to support people experiencing mental ill health. Participants take part in intensive group sessions designed to build resilience, confidence and practical coping strategies. The film shows how creative activities and peer support help people reconnect with their sense of purpose, strengthen their wellbeing and prepare for a return to meaningful employment.

Video 5: Wellness Works - Ravensthorpe Community Centre / Third Sector Leaders

The Wellness Works initiative, led by TSL Kirklees and delivered through local community partners, helps people whose health is affecting their ability to work. The video visits Ravensthorpe Community Centre, where staff and participants explain how personalised support, wellbeing activities and practical help are making a real difference. From reducing isolation to building confidence and opening doors to volunteering, training and employment, the programme is helping people take positive steps forward.

Video 6: Get Set Goal health checks

The final video focuses on Get Set Goal, a wellbeing service delivered by healthcare students from the University of Huddersfield. The service provides accessible health checks and lifestyle advice to employees across a range of workplaces. Employers and participants featured in the film praise the convenience and professionalism of the service, while students gain valuable real-world experience. The video highlights how early health support can help people stay healthy both at work and in their everyday lives.

The activities in these videos are part of Healthy Working Life, a joint programme from the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board.
