Get Set Goal is a wellbeing service that forms part of the Health and Wellbeing Academy at the University of Huddersfield. It is a service that improves the health and wellness of individuals and communities by helping people to achieve personal goals by making informed and positive lifestyle choices.
Delivered by healthcare students from the University of Huddersfield, Get Set Goal offers a series of one-to-one appointments to help improve the health and wellbeing of anyone aged 18 and over. It’s also an opportunity for students to gain real life, practical hands on experience.
One employer describes the service as a “well-oiled machine”.
“Teams like Get Set Goal coming out supports us because they come, they are so ready and they’ve got everything set up.”
The service is offered to employees in many settings including small and medium-sized businesses, independent care services, charities, healthcare and self-employed people who are experiencing health problems. Employees have access to a quick and easy health check that might take much longer if they had to see a GP.
“They can leave whatever they are doing, nip down, have the check and then be back at work,” says one video participant. “It means that they’re healthier in the work environment but also in their personal life too.”
Students are described as enthusiastic. “They look professional, act professionally and really do care passionately about the fact that they are delivering healthcare services and health advice.”
