My Way Forward
My Way Forward offers support for young people aged 16-25 living in Kirklees who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) and are experiencing health or mental health issues. The aim is to stabilise individual health issues, build aspirations for work and access mainstream employability support programmes including:
- one-to-one guidance from a keyworker to explore career opportunities, address personal barriers and access benefits
- taking part in peer group sessions, such as social hubs and job clubs
- volunteering and work experience opportunities
Making It Work
Making It Work supports young people aged 16-25 in Kirklees who are either in employment, or have an agreed job start date and who are experiencing health or mental health issues. The focus is on helping individuals successfully transition into work and sustainable employment including:
- one-to-one support from a keyworker to build confidence, manage workplace expectations, establish health routines and build positive working relationships
- access to group sessions with other young employees
- support to discuss worries with an employer
- support to explore and apply for alternative employment
In this video you can hear from young people about their experiences and how My Way Forward and Making It Work is opening up employment opportunities. The video is one of a series of five videos. See the playlist to find out more.
