The Health and Care Act 2022 introduced new laws to make it simpler for health and care organisations to deliver joined-up care for people. The Health and Care Act also sets out how Integrated Care Partnerships (In West Yorkshire this is our Partnership Board) should develop an Integrated Care Strategy to set the direction of the system and to show how they intend to deliver more joined-up, preventative, and person-centred care for their whole population, across the course of their life.
In order to plan as a system to deliver this strategy, NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for developing a Joint forward Plan which sets out how the NHS part of the five year integrated care strategy will be delivered.
To create our Joint forward Plan we are committed to working with people and communities, along with our valued colleagues and partners to ensure it meets the needs of people and communities We will do this by using different methods of involving people in our local places. Our involvement process will has and will include:
- A Joint Forward Plan Survey
- Meetings and events to seek views from people and communities which includes linking into West Yorkshire programmes, such as harnessing the power of communities, West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance, the race equality network and unpaid carers.
- Producing background information and frequently asked questions (FAQs) which will be updated throughout the involvement process.
- News bulletins. We will use our own and partner bulletins to share information and to seek staff, people and communities’ views.
- Communications. We shared details of the Joint Forward Plan consultation opportunity via our and partner, stakeholder communication channels and encourage our followers to re-tweet and share content via social media.
As per Government guidance advice, we will be publishing the West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB)'s Joint Forward Plan subject to approval at our ICB Board meeting on 18 July 2023.
