Do you work with young people aged between 11-25 in West Yorkshire? If the answer is yes, we would like to hear from you.
The West Yorkshire Violence Reduction Unit and the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership Crest Advisory are embarking on new research designed to understand and how we can address the root causes of serious violence and exploitation of young people. The research will seek to explore how the following factors impact a young person’s vulnerability to serious violence:
- The determinants of health and health inequalities
- Self-worth and autonomy
- The economic and social impacts of COVID-19 (namely increased inequalities in and between different population groups)
- The specific challenges facing women and girls
To ensure that our research is as impactful as possible, we would like to speak with community group leaders, youth workers, youth club organisers, and others who are engaged with young people from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnic groups in West Yorkshire who can act as a representative.
We are looking to interview representatives of young people for our research, but also to listen to your ideas about how best to incorporate the voices of the young people in West Yorkshire. Ultimately, through these conversations we aim to understand the experiences of young people relating to health, social inequalities, the COVID period, and serious youth violence.
If you are in contact with young people in West Yorkshire and feel as though you can represent their voices, please reach out to us.
Please contact madeline.
