Volunteers who are interested in palliative care or who have experienced cancer are being sought for a study.

Volunteers who are interested in palliative care or who have experienced cancer are being sought for a study aimed at helping hospice patients to experience less pain and have fewer side effects.

Bradford University research pharmacist Zoe Edwards is working with Professor Mike Bennett and St Gemma’s Academic Unit of Palliative Care in Leeds on a proposal to find out whether a medicines consultation from a Hospice Pharmacist could help cancer patients with a terminal prognosis and pain, and feel more able to self-manage their own medicines.

Volunteers would be asked to review patient literature, pilot questionnaires and be involved in discussions around the study and its future development. Involvement can be by phone, email or a one-off meeting. If an application for funding is successful, volunteers could be involved for up to three years.

Anyone interested should contact Zoe Edwards on 01274 236594 or by emailing Z.Edwards@Bradford.ac.uk
