- A framework for collaborative working between West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership and the pharmaceutical industry (Word document)
Effective collaboration between the NHS and the pharmaceutical industry can help in the delivery of Long-Term Plan goals, drive the uptake of innovation and new ways of working, improve outcomes, generate greater efficiencies in the delivery of high- quality health and care and enhance patient experience and economic growth opportunities.
In late 2018 discussions were started between Yorkshire & Humber Academic Health Science Network (Y&H AHSN), representatives of West Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership (the Partnership) and the Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) with a view to establishing agreed ways of working between the Partnership, the AHSN and the pharmaceutical industry. The aim was to establish an open and transparent framework to support effective joint working to help meet the health and care needs identified by the Partnership.
To help realise these benefits, in 2019, the AHSN Network and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI)1 produced joint guidance2 to make it easier for Integrated Care systems and pharmaceutical industry partners to develop and implement local, well-governed collaborative initiatives that improve patient outcomes.
The purpose of this document is to set out the shared aims, ways of working, commitments, benefits and governance principles for the relationship between the Partnership and the pharmaceutical industry. It is intended to support joint working at system level. It is not intended to replace existing Research and Design governance structures in individual organisations nor intended to provide or act as mechanism for lobbying, changing or amending policy.
