Dr James Thomas, Medical Director for NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), said: "We are aware of this issue and have been working hard to ensure we continue to meet patients' needs during a national shortage of these medicines.
"This is likely to affect many patients in our region, but we are following national guidance and are rapidly developing detailed plans to ensure everyone receives the care they need.
"This is a difficult situation for people with type 2 diabetes as well as the healthcare professionals who care for them, and we thank everyone for their patience as we work hard to resolve it.
If you feel unwell with symptoms of high blood glucose, please seek medical help as normal. We expect shortages to last until mid-2024, please remember this is beyond our control and we are dealing with a high volume of calls."
