The Fellowship is West Yorkshire’s award-winning leadership development programme aimed specifically at colleagues from ethnic minority backgrounds who are working within health and care. It was designed to help achieve our 10 big ambitions as a PartnerFellowship Programme Logo (RGB).jpgship, as set out in our People Plan.

Cohort 3 of The Fellowship is for 'Aspiring Leaders' and came together for the first time on Monday 25 September. The latest cohort of our award-winning Fellowship programme will help to cultivate talent within West Yorkshire and develop future diverse leadership.

The programme was overwhelmed with enquiries and over 40 applicants applied for cohort 3 and due to the high standard of applications received a decision was made to expand the number of places, so 29 people will now be part of cohort 3. An additional nine places offered and some of these will commence at the later date of May 2024. All unsuccessful applicants will receive a personalised development conversation to point them towards other opportunities where appropriate.

We are pleased to be welcoming colleagues currently working in a variety of roles across the voluntary, third sector, council and health and look forward to seeing the exciting projects they will be part of and help make possible within their programmes of work.

The Partnership’s system leadership development team and the strategic Race Equality Network have been instrumental for this work taking place.

Alumni from cohort 1 were on hand to share their insights and experiences since graduating from the programme at the launch.  Rob Webster, CEO for NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and Fatima Khan-Shah, West Yorkshire Inclusivity Champion and Chair of the West Yorkshire Strategic Race Equality Network welcomed the fellows to what is an integral programme for the Partnership.A group photograph of the fellows joining Cohort 3 the fellowship programme 2023.jpg

All the very best to the fellows that began their journey on West Yorkshire's leadership programme for colleagues from ethnically diverse communities in 2023.
