Working together to improve the lives of autistic people and/or people with learning disabilities – our priorities for 2025/26
Our partnership has a big ambition to reduce the gap in life expectancy for people with a learning disability and neurodivergent people. Achieving this ambition will make life better for more than 200,000 people living in West Yorkshire.
We have some key pieces of work that will help us to achieve our aim:
- To reduce inpatient numbers by continuing to deliver Dynamic Support Register meetings with key stakeholders and completing CETRs for all people in hospital
- To improve access to and uptake of annual health checks and health action plans
- To continue the Learning from Deaths Review (LeDeR) work through the West Yorkshire focused review panel meetings, sharing learning and implementing projects that support a reduction in health inequalities
- To support partners to roll out Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training.
How will we know that we have improved the health and wellbeing for autistic people and/or people with learning disabilities?
- Autistic people and people with learning disabilities who live in West Yorkshire will live longer, healthier lives
- Autistic people and people with learning disabilities who live in West Yorkshire will have better patient experiences and better outcomes
- Our health and care services will be regarded as an example of best practice in how it promotes the health needs of autistic people and/or people with learning disabilities.
